Leilani Alo, Advisory Board President
Lani Alo is a program officer with the San Francisco-based Goldman Environmental Prize, the world's largest prize program for grassroots environmental leaders. She previously worked at the San Francisco Foundation where she was fellow in the foundation's Multicultural Fellowship Program. At the foundation Lani focused on grant making in support of Bay Area youth, and environmental education and justice programs. She studied international relations in graduate school. Lani has served on the Advisory Board of KIDS for the BAY for 10 years and is currently the President of the Board.

Kalyan Ayloo
Kalyan Ayloo is the Program Manager at Microsoft Corporation, where he leads the strategy and engineering execution for Bing Search Engine platform. He holds several patents in the areas of social networking and online advertising. Previously, he was a senior member of the Technical Staff with Yahoo!. He also consults with and advises teams working on innovative ideas on product and go to market strategies. An Illinois graduate, Kalyan is currently pursuing a management degree from Stanford University with a focus on strategy and entrepreneurship. He also volunteers with Seattle and Bay Area nonprofits including Taproot foundation, and Habitat for Humanity. Kalyan helped KIDS for the BAY build its online Donor Database.

Marco Gonzales
Marco is an educator and lifelong resident of West Contra Costa. Currently he is the Principal of Edward M. Downer Elementary School. Marco received his B.A. from the University of California, San Diego in History and Chicano Studies. He earned his bilingual teacher and administrative credentials from California State University, Hayward. Marco also holds a Master of Education from California State University, East Bay. He is a 25-year veteran in the West Contra Costa Unified School District (WCCUSD). His previous principal positions in the WCCUSD were at Lincoln Elementary School and as the opening principal of Cesar Chavez Elementary School. Marco served two years as the Coordinator for English Learner Services and two years as a coach/mentor to new principals. Marco’s community involvement, membership on various non-profit boards of directors and career in education exemplify his passion for family and youth development.

Elaine Miyamori, SPHR
Elaine Miyamori is a Human Resources Consultant with AAA Northern California, Nevada, and Utah where she provides consultation and support on HR business strategy and change management, HR analytics and solutions implementation, HR business project execution and management, and performance management. Elaine has held national and regional human resources manager positions in the financial services industry. She served on the advisory board for the Contra Costa County Private Industry Council and chaired the Finance Committee during her second term. She was a contributor in developing the first financial services “school to work program” in Sacramento through Linking Education and Economic Development (LEED); a collaborative effort with business, education and economic development focused on aligning educational resources with regional workforce needs. Elaine was past president of the Asian Pacific Personnel Association and Vice President of the Tri-Valley Human Resources Association. Elaine has a degree in Social Welfare from UC, Berkeley.

Laura Prival
Laura Prival is a life-long educator currently teaching and coaching elementary science in Oakland Public Schools. Laura has taught in urban and rural communities from the elementary to post-collegiate level, always focusing on hands-on learning, service-learning, and community awareness. Past projects include writing curriculum for the Education and the Environment Initiative, a collaboration of state agencies, as well as consulting for non-profits and local agencies on watershed awareness and environmental education. Laura holds an M.A. in Teaching, a B.A. in Sociology, and Multiple Subject and Science Teaching Credentials.

Sumana Rao
Sumana Rao is an interior designer and co-owner of Napoleon At Home. In 2006, she left a successful career in software sales to join forces with her business partner Maria Caldwell, and transformed Napoleon At Home from a retail store into a noted full service interior design, staging, and retail outlet. Sumana served as Vice President of the Board of Career Closet, a nonprofit in Santa Clara. Most recently she was delighted to join the KIDS for the BAY Advisory Board, which combines her interest in children and the environment.

Shefali Shah
Shefali Shah is an educator of multicultural and environmental justice education with over 12 years experience. Shefali holds a Spanish Bilingual Teaching Credential and a Masters Degree in Education with a focus on Critical Environmental and Global Literacy. Her research, practice, educational curriculum and teacher training focus on environmental justice and best practices for equitable educational opportunities for multicultural youth. For five years, Shefali worked as an Instructor in the Teacher Credential and Masters Degree Programs at New College of California and for nine years she served as Program Director and later Education Director for KIDS for the BAY. Shefali’s work promotes environmental justice through action and cultural awareness and connections through musical and dance traditions. Her consulting work includes curriculum support and environmental justice education trainings.

Natalie Silverstein
Natalie Silverstein directs communications strategy for SYPartners, a consulting firm that works alongside CEOs and their leadership teams to transform their companies. She formerly directed global communications for the annual Goldman Environmental Prize, which recognizes outstanding grassroots environmental leadership around the world. She also managed marketing and communications for the Richard and Rhoda Goldman Fund, a foundation that has supported environmental and other causes for more than 50 years. Natalie started her career in environmental film and video distribution, and has since worked as an independent producer and marketing consultant for mission-driven companies and organizations.
